THE COMMUNITY PROJECT

As artists, with a camera in hand, we ultimately have the power to not only change the way we see the world, but how the world sees themselves. While there are 7.5 billion people in this world, when a person walks in front of your lens, and you frame up your shot, you have the ability to make them feel like they’re the only one.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, a lot of times it’s easy to feel small, and are prone to asking yourself: How much of a difference am I really making in the world? But in reality, there are no people exactly the same. Every person is unique and beautiful in their own way and is a lot more similar to us than they are different. To illustrate this concept and bring it to life, I think of it like a puzzle. If you removed just one of the pieces, there would be a gaping hole in the middle of it. This shows how important each one of us is in a community, and that it would not be possible without us.

The goal for this project was to showcase each individuals diversity and beauty but also show what an entire community can do together where every person matters.
